Tile Installation in Kansas City

When it comes to our newer and less experienced team members, we have them train under an experienced tile setter before they lay tile by themselves. Laying tile can be difficult, especially for our team that takes on a lot of projects with delicate, intricate tile work. We value education and experience, so once we feel they’re ready, our tilers in training will be laying tile for projects under the supervision of our more experienced setters.

Most of the time we start our tile installation in Kansas City on the center of the surface we’re working on. Starting in the center allows us to keep the tile symmetrical and have even space between all the tiles, there are certain circumstances that require us to start off center but that is rare.

The biggest difference between ceramic and porcelain tiles is how they care made. While both types of tile are made out of a clay mixture that is fired in a kiln, porcelain tile is made from a more refined mixture of clay and fired at higher temperatures (1200° celsius) than ceramic clay. This process makes the porcelain tile more dense and durable and less porous than ceramic tile. Glazes for porcelain tile also come in a wider range of colors.

Finishes refer to the appearance of the surface of the tile, which can be glossy, matte, polished, satin, or natural. Different finishes are achieved through different glazes that can be applied on the tile.
